Watched John Carpenter's The Thing the other night - heard scary things about dogs and Antarctica so I had to invite a couple friends over to watch with me... being the non-horror person the film's rep made me nervous haha. Let me start by saying that Kurt Russell had on a hat that literally negated the scarier aspects of the movie, he looked like Yosemite Sam from Looney Tunes. However, that being said, I will admit that there were one or two moments where I jumped and several times where it was necessary to pull a blanket up (if for no other reason than shear grossness factor). Hear a re-make is being made of this 1980s wonder, but not sure it will be able to stand up...
I cannot imagine life without movies, but am in no way what one might typically think of as a film student. I admit to watching and often enjoying foreign films, but to be perfectly frank I love nothing more than your down n’ dirty cheesy Hollywood action flick. Generally I watch all sorts of films so have a recommendation for almost anyone; except horror (no point with my eyes shut) or anything depressingly sad (film is for fun, not tears). This is raw “real me to real you” film feedback.

although i'm a child of the 80's, i must admit this one i did not watch. i'll have to make time to watch this. some of my favorite kurt russell movies are backdraft, overboard, swingshift, the strongest man in the world, sky high, tombstone, and big trouble in little china.
ReplyDeleteooo good movie choices! I have never seen swingshift or strongest man so I will have to add those to my list. I do love overboard and sky high though hahaha Kurt is so awesome - you can't forget about Captain Ron, Tango & Cash, Death Proof...
